I’m a Urvi Shrivastav, a MS in Journalism student at Columbia University. I have extensive experience in Business Reporting, Thought Leadership, and facilitating leadership events. I have conceptualized and narrated multiple explainers on complex topics such as artificial intelligence, middle east oil crisis, impact of laws on communities, among others, which have gained traction on various OTT platforms and social media handles.
I previously worked with a prominent business magazine and online platform BW Businessworld where I was the Editorial Lead for BW Disrupt (startup vertical) and BW CFO (Chief Financial Officer) At BW BusinessWorld. I published over 4,000 articles on diverse themes such as finance, leadership, and entrepreneurship. My articles have been widely read and circulated across various Indian readers.
I am currently pursuing my second masters degree from Columbia University, Graduate School of Journalism, New York. The city has been a canvas of diversity and a reporters paradise looking to develop their journalistic skills. At Columbia, I have had the opportunity to hone my skills in camera work, and extensive sourcing and legwork. I have worked on articles around financial issues that plague farmers’ markets in the city, court reporting, covering local events and protests, and conducting interviews. As a part of my masters thesis I am working on shoplifting in New York, which is proving to be Achilles heel not just for the retailers but also the general folks. I have gone out of my way to contact shoplifters, people in prison as gang members and bring about their perspective. Reporting is my passion, and I wish to continue and make an impact on society by giving a platform to people who are previously unheard in the media.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, running, and exploring new places to eat.
